This is the second thing I've made from my new favorite DIY site Homemade Modern. In the original design he makes a concrete top for this table, but I used a wood table top from ikea that I already had.
I also used this project to start learning how to use a miter saw. I bought this $89 one from Home Depot for the project and it worked great. I could have gotten a simple circular saw, but I knew I'd want to make miter cuts in the future so I decided to spring for it right away.
- (4x) 5 foot long 1x4s
- (5x) 8 foot long 2x4s (get them cut in half at Home Depot)
- Wood screws
- Optional: concrete table top
- Miter saw (or circular saw)
Check out the instructions from Homemade Modern. I followed them almost exactly, except I actually stretched out the legs an extra 4" to make the table taller to match the height of the ikea legs that this table base was replacing.
